The Music Center provides a range of professional development programs and services, all rooted in the California Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Standards, to help teachers along a continuum towards being able to fully integrate the arts into daily classroom instruction.

Institute for Educators at the Music Center
Available by invitation only, the Institute for Educators is a year-long professional development experience in the arts. Beginning with an intensive five-day program in July, the Institute gives educators innovative ways of teaching the arts and strategies for making effective connections with other core subject areas.

Teacher In-Services in the Schools
Teacher In-Services provide hands-on instruction to teachers in music, dance, theatre and the visual arts. A professional artist from the Music Center will visit your school for a single two-hour workshop, up to a series of five-hour classes scheduled throughout the year. In-Service sessions are aligned with school instructional goals and can be customized to match teachers prior experience teaching a particular arts discipline.

Saturday Professional Development Workshops at the Music Center
Held at the Music Center on select Saturdays throughout the year, these teacher workshops are designed to expand teacher skills and knowledge in the core content of dance, music, theatre and the visual arts. Each four-hour session is led by a professional artist and appropriate for all levels of teacher experience.
